​​The Abilene Football Chapter meets each Tuesday evening from July through November at the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing located at 2149 Hickory Street, just one block south of Ambler Street and the entrance to Hardin Simmons University.  The New Members training session begins at 5:45pm and the Scheduled Regular Meeting begins at 6:30pm.  Meetings are open to anyone with an interest in Texas High School football.  We are always recruiting new members and invite you to join our organization and be a participant in Texas High School football.

Important Information

When you join Abilene Football Refs, you are joins over 20,000 football officials accross the great state of Texas as an arbiter of fairplay and sportsmanship on football fields in every community.
If you are at least 16 years old (18 years old to work varsity games), in relatively good physical condition, and enjoy the game of football you can be a football referee.  ​​

You will be required to attend weekly training sessions held on Tuesday evenings at 5:45pm beginning in July.  Upon completion of training you will be eligible to officiate area high school  football games.

Check out the links on our Contact Page to learn where to order uniforms.   Vendors will also attend our clinics and have uniforms available.   To begin, you will need a stripped shirt (with TASO logo), long black pants, short summer pants, a whistle, a bean bag, flag, black cap, black belt, and field shoes. ​​
Varsity teams usually play on Friday nights.   Sub-varsity, middle schools, and junior high teams play Monday through Thursday.   You get to manage your own schedule.   If you cannot call a game on Tuesday, you simply "block" the days you cannot work a game on our game scheduling software.  Easy. ​​
